I finally (finally!) took my son to the Please Touch Museum in it's new location at Memorial Hall in Fairmount Park. In a word, it's fab. After two and a half hours of non-stop playing we had to call it a day for naptime, and we only made it through about two-thirds of the first floor, not even making it to the lower level floor (where the ShopRite "supermarket", among other things, is!). We did make it through the Roadside Attractions (yes, they still have the SEPTA bus), the Flight Fantasy section and the carousel. And there's still so much more we didn't see. So it's a great way to spend several hours with your kids.
The new location is beautiful. The areas are clean and well-staffed. We were there on a rainy Saturday, likely the busiest time to be there, and even though there were a ton of people, the building is so spacious that you don't feel crowded. The only drawback was that although there is a fair amount of seating at the Please Touch Cafe within the museum, it wasn't enough to accommodate the crowd at lunchtime. But that aside, the facility is gorgeous and I can't wait to go back to see the rest.
The Please Touch Museum is open Monday through Friday 9am until 5pm and on Sundays from 11am until 5pm. Tickets are $15 per person over the age of 1 year old. There are memberships too, which are well worth it if you plan on visiting more than twice a year. Our 4 person, 15 month membership is $130 and comes with all sorts of perks like free parking and free carousel rides. Get your membership here.
